AmeriCorps Members are making a difference in partnership with Trinity Habitat!

The 2008-2009 AmeriCorps Members serving in partnership with Trinity Habitat are already helping increase our capacity for outreach and service.  Below are a few notes about the
people and their positions that are helping us build homes and hope with God’s people.

Family Services Corps Member, Hannah Capin, joined Trinity Habitat via AmeriCorps in October and will be responsible for assisting with community outreach and recruitment of potential family partners for participation in Trinity Habitat’s A Brush With Kindness Program and Home Ownership Program. In addition, she will help coordinate ABWK service delivery to eligible participants.

Kay Van, Volunteer and Community Relations Corp Member, began her service with Trinity Habitat in September and is responsible for assisting with all volunteer services.  This includes focusing on the refinement and creation of volunteer recruitment, training, coordination, management, appreciation, and cultivation and retention services.  In her role, Kay will also assist in the new Volunteer Department’s responsibility to coordinate all non-fundraising and appreciation celebration events.

Construction Corp Members Jeremy Ballard, Tim Beasley, David Blakney, Ritchie Peter and Spencer Pettijohn joined the team in September and October and are assisting with the preparation and organization of Habitat construction sites to ensure safety and efficiency and the construction of Habitat for Humanity Homes during our biggest Building on Faith campaign in Trinity’s history.  In addition the Corps Members will assist with management and training of construction volunteers and the nurturing and training future Habitat homeowners by acting as mentors on the worksite.

If you are not familiar with the AmeriCorps National Service Program, we invite you to visit www.americorps.org to learn more about the program through which more than 130,000 individuals have dedicated a year of their lives to fighting poverty in the United States by serving as an AmeriCorps Member.  For more information about applying to join the next Trinity Habitat AmeriCorps Team, contact Angela Bills, Volunteer and Advocacy Director, at 817-926-9219 #105.
