Trinity Habitat AmeriCorps National Direct and VISTA Team 2009-2010 AmeriCorps Members are making a difference in partnership with Trinity Habitat! The 2009-2010 National Service AmeriCorps/VISTA Members serving from September 2009 to July 2010, in partnership with Trinity Habitat are already helping increase our capacity for outreach and service. Below are a few notes about these members and their positions. AmeriCorps National Direct Service Members focus on the implantation of direct service to address critical community needs. Construction Corp Members Colby Carlson, Evan Jackson, Jason Jiron, Adam Mumford, and Travis Preciado are assisting with the preparation and organization of Habitat construction sites to ensure safety, efficiency, and the construction of Habitat for Humanity Homes during our Building on Faith campaign. In addition these Corps Members will assist with management and training of construction volunteers and the nurturing and training future Habitat homeowners by acting as mentors on the worksite.
Family Services Corps Members, Cait Burhans and Rhea Racho, will be responsible for assisting with community outreach and recruitment of potential family partners for participation in Trinity Habitat’s Home Ownership Program including Preserve a Home: Rehab Program. In addition, these women will help support Trinity Habitat’s Partner Families. Volunteer and Community Relations Corp Members, Edilah Jordan and Kay Van, are responsible for assisting with all volunteer services. This includes focusing on the refinement and creation of volunteer recruitment, training, coordination, management, appreciation, and cultivation and retention services. In addition, these women will also assist in the new Volunteer Department’s responsibility to coordinate all non-fundraising and appreciation celebration events. Trinity Habitat is blessed to announce an additional partnership with the Corporation for National Service through VISTA (Volunteers In Service To America). This year four new AmeriCorps VISTA members serving with Trinity Habitat will focus on developing programs that fight poverty and increase our capacity to serve our community. The Construction Department welcomes Malia Hubbard who will be further developing our ability to serve the community through our Preserve a Home: Rehab Program. The Development Department welcomes Evie Masters who will be developing our outreach to Faith and Youth Groups along with the community at large.
